25 Candy
How to Evolve Totodile in Pokémon GO
Totodile evolves into Croconaw using 25 Totodile Candy, while Croconaw evolves into Feraligatr using 100 Totodile Candy. Unlike some Pokémon, Totodile doesn’t require a special evolution item, Buddy task or event requirement to evolve. The quickest way to earn Candy is by catching Totodile whenever it’s available, using Pinap Berries during encounters and setting Totodile as your Buddy Pokémon while exploring.
Is Totodile Good in Pokémon GO?
Totodile is worth catching because of what it eventually becomes. While Totodile itself has fairly modest stats, Feraligatr is a powerful Water-type Pokémon that performs well in raids and has become increasingly useful in GO Battle League thanks to its strong moveset. If you find a Totodile with high IVs or good PvP IVs, it’s well worth evolving and keeping for future use. Totodile also appears during Community Days and Johto-themed events, making it one of the easier starter Pokémon to build Candy for over time.

Can Totodile Be Shiny in Pokémon GO?

Shiny Totodile is available in Pokémon GO and is easily recognised by its bright turquoise colouring, replacing the darker blue found on the standard version. Trainers can encounter a Shiny Totodile whenever it is featured in the wild, during special events or Community Day reruns. Community Days continue to offer the highest Shiny rates, making them the best opportunity to catch one and collect enough Candy for its evolutions.
How to Get Totodile in Pokémon GO
Totodile’s availability changes throughout the year depending on the current Pokémon GO season and active events. It can appear in the wild, during themed events, through certain Field Research tasks or as part of special celebrations focusing on the Johto region. If Totodile isn’t currently available, don’t worry, as Niantic regularly rotates starter Pokémon back into the game during future events.
Is Totodile Worth Using in Pokémon GO?

PvP
Totodile itself isn’t commonly used in GO Battle League because its CP and stats are too low to compete with stronger Pokémon. However, evolving Totodile into Feraligatr gives you access to one of the better Water-type choices for several PvP formats. Trainers interested in competitive battling should look for Totodile with strong PvP IVs before evolving it.
Raids
Totodile isn’t recommended for raid battles on its own, but Feraligatr is capable of dealing solid Water-type damage against Fire, Ground and Rock-type Raid Bosses. If you’re investing resources into Totodile, it’s best to evolve it fully before powering it up for raid use.
