Nvidia and AMD GPUs continue to get cheaper

Despite the Nvidia RTX 30 series and AMD RX 6000 series releasing in late-2020, many gamers and PC users are still unable to secure a new graphics card, at least not without paying stupid prices to scalpers.

Thankfully, that seems to be changing now as stock is hitting store shelves and not immediately selling out in some instances.

This has also led to the scalper’s prices being reduced as they’re unable to shift the graphic cards for the same price they were able to a year ago.

But, the market isn’t perfect yet, there is still a shortage, and in many cases, the retailers are scalping the prices just as many as the secondary market.

There is some good news though, as the prices seem to be dropping across the board, with some graphics cards now selling for 20% less than they were just one month ago.

In fact, no current graphics cards on the market have seen an increase in price over the last month, even if some only dropped in price by 1%, it is still a saving.

Here is a chart of all of the current GPUs and their average eBay prices and how much cheaper they are compared to February 2022, courtesy of Tom’s Hardware.

For the most part, it appears that the lower end GPUs, such as the AMD RX 5500 XT, and the Nvidia GTX 1660 have seen the greatest decrease in price, which is likely due to their lower mining hash rate which makes them not as viable to use when compared to more expensive and powerful cards.

But, even the extremely powerful Nvidia RTX 3090 has seen a decrease of 9.2% when compared to the previous month. And, all GPUs have seen an average of a 25% decrease in price so far in 2022, meaning that it is becoming easier and cheaper to secure graphics cards.

Although, with the Nvidia RTX 40 series and AMD RX 7000 series likely coming this year, will we see another year-long mass shortage of graphics cards?
