DC Comics’ Black Adam is an often overlooked villain in the DC universe – but he’s finally getting his moment in the spotlight through Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming portrayal. With Shazam 2 in the works, Black Adam’s introduction into the DCEU should be the perfect opportunity to set up a climactic battle between these two big hitters. Here’s everything we know about when the DCEU’s Black Adam movie is coming out – what release date has it been offered?

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s portrayal of Black Adam is going to release on the following date: July 29, 2022.

Black Adam – known as Teth-Adam, Theo Adam, and Tethon, is from Kahndaq. He’s an ancient Egyptian who has been blessed with the ability to become a superhero – all he has to do is say “Shazam” like Shazam. There are quite a few versions of Black Adam out there in the DC comics universe – in some of them he’s a certified villain, in others he’s an antihero. We don’t know exactly how the DCEU’s Black Adam will be portrayed, but we do expect him to be dancing that fine line between “good” and “bad”.

In Shazam!, Black Adam is referred to by the “Wizard Shazam” when he’s talking to Billy Batson. The “Wizard Shazam” explains that Black Adam was responsible for erasing civilizations, which certainly sounds more “bad” than “good”. However, there are a few versions of Black Adam out there who are working on clearing their name and reputation – maybe this is how Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will fit in.
