With the Season of Mythical Wishes underway, Pokemon Go are seeing in the new year as they introduce a unique event for trainers to complete – the Pokemon Go Lunar New Year 2023.

As with all events, a whole host of bonuses and items will be available to trainers. However, in the Pokemon Go Lunar New Year 2023 Event, the focus is on luck and making your choices wisely, meaning trainers will choose their path and ultimately alter their gameplay for the event durartion. There is certainly a lot to be excited about!

Let’s take a look below at all the details for what is set to be a massive celebration for trainers around the world.

Lunar New Year 2023 – The details

Commencing Thursday, January 18, at 10:00 AM Local Time and ending Monday, January 20, at 8:00 PM Local Time, trainers will have only 6 days to reap all the benefits of this event.

With the focus of the event being around luck, trainers will have an increased chance of lucky trades, Shiny Pokemon, plus the chance to become lucky friends with other trainers too!

Lunar New Year 2023 – Event Bonuses

As with all events, trainers will be given a variety of bonuses for the duration to make leveling up even easier. For the Lunar New Year 2023 event, the bonuses are as follows:

  • 1/2 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during the event period
  • 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon
  • 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration

However, there is a catch. Trainers may only choose one event bonus, so pick wisely!

Timed Research – Lucky Wishes

Depending which path you choose for the event bonuses, will determine the path you take for the timed research for the duration of the Lunar New Year 2023 event.

The focus for each path will be either hatching Eggs, the duration of Daily Adventure Incense, or collecting Stardust.

Upon completion, trainers will receive a lucky egg!

There will be a whole host of stickers available for the event. And located within the shop, trainers can purchase the Red Lantern Backpack to mark the occasion.

Lunar New Year 2023 – the Raids

For the duration of the Lunar New Year 2023, the following Pokemon will be available in raids.

1 Star Raids:

  • Hisuian Voltorb
  • Shinx*
  • Darumaka*
  • Galarian Darumaka*

3 Star Raids:

  • Flareon
  • Shuckle*
  • Blaziken*
  • Druddigon*
  • Diggersby

5 Star Raids:

  • Regice*

Eggs

We all love it when an egg hatches, especially during an event! Appearing within 7km for the duration of the event will be the following Pokemon:

  • Chingling
  • Riolu*
  • Darumaka*
  • Galarian Darumaka*
  • Scraggy
