Pokemon Go is a hugely successful long-running mobile game nowadays and has been with us for a few years already with no signs of slowing down, but when exactly did pokemon go come out, again?

It’s a question a fair few people may be wondering lately, given that the popular game app had a resurgence of users and profits in 2020.

When did Pokemon Go come out?

Pokemon Go was released for public access back in 2016 on the 6th of July.

The game was hugely popular and quickly became one of the most popular mobile games of all time in it’s first year with Pokemon Go being something of a worldwide phenomon in just how well it performed immediately.

What happened since?

While the game did have that huge popularity spike at first, its popularity diminished slowly through the later stages of 2016 and 2017 – the title had only around a little over a quarter of the user-base in 2017 as it did during the peak days of 2016.

As shown above from BusinessOfApps.com, Since 2018 and onwards the game has been slowly trending back upwards, gaining popularity and users back over time. It has also succeeded greatly in terms of sheer revenue, with 2020 being the year with the highest revenue in its own history.

Is there anything else?

This is pretty much all you need to know on this topic, although the same source does include an interesting little bit of detail about Niantic.

Go, being the best-known Product of Niantic, could be considered to be responsible for much if not all of this growth, which really shows the selling power of the Pokemon brand, and just how successful some of these huge hit games really are.

In any case, that’s everything you need to know for this topic and even an extra tidbit on Niantic thrown in at the end, so that’ll be all for this piece.
