As we begin the month of September, trainers are entering the highly anticipated Season of Light in Pokemon Go, with a brand new Special Research for trainers to complete: ‘A Cosmic Companion’.

The Season of Light is set to take trainers on a journey like no other, with bonuses galore and new in-game features available throughout the Autumn months, including increased incense effectiveness, increased damage for Pokemon participating in raids remotely, and guaranteed gifts for spinning Pokestops – Niantic really are spoiling us!

The introduction of the Cosmic Companion quest line brings with it a new Legendary Pokemon for trainers to add to their Pokedex, as well as a whole host of rewards for completing the challenges. Let’s take a look below at the Quest line and discover what trainers can expect as we kick off the Pokemon Go Season of Light.

A Cosmic Companion – The Challenges

The Cosmic Companion Challenges are available for trainers to claim from Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 9:59 a.m. local time, allowing trainers to earn the new out-of-this-world, Legendary Pokemon, Cosmog.

New parts of the Special Research will unlock over the course of the Season on October 5th, 2022, and November 23rd, 2022.

To begin, trainers can access the following challenges from September 1st, 2022, 10:00am local time:

A Cosmic Companion 1/3

  • Catch 15 Pokemon – Reward 5 x Razz Berry
  • Make 10 Curveball Throws – Reward Staryu
  • Catch 15 Psychic-type Pokemon – Reward 5 x Pinap Berries

Upon completion of the first challenges, trainers will be given the all-new Legendary Pokemon Cosmog, 1000XP and x500 Stardust

A Cosmic Companion 2/3

  • Give your buddy 3 treats – Reward Woobat
  • Earn 10 Candies walking with your buddy – Reward Staryu
  • Catch 15 Psychic-type Pokemon – Reward Munna

Upon completion, trainers will be rewarded with 1 x Poffin, 2000 XP, and x500 Stardust

A Cosmic Companion 3/3

  • Earn 15 hearts with your buddy – Reward Ralts
  • Send 10 Gifts to friends – Reward Staryu
  • Catch 20 different species of Pokemon – Reward 25 x Pokeball

Upon completion, trainers will be rewarded with 5 x Pinap Berries, 3000 XP, and x1000 stardust

Trainers are then given a further 25 Cosmog Candies, 3000 XP, and x1000 Stardust, alongside the message:

Trainers will then have to wait until October 5th, 2022, to unlock the second part of the new special research from Professor Willow, and continue their journey with Cosmog.
