Pokemon Go: Recently released Avalugg has some… issues

Avalugg in the Pokemon anime

Avalugg was recently added to Pokemon Go, but apparently, Niantic forgot to consider a few details, like how large it is, and it’s causing some problems.

Avalugg is having some problems in Pokemon Go

So, for anyone who is unfamiliar, this is the Pokemon Avalugg.

As you can see, he’s a big guy. Like pretty damn large. It’s basically the defining characteristic of his appearance, to be honest.

It also seems to be a detail Niantic forgot to account for if he’s used as a buddy or in gyms in Pokemon Go, according to a recent Reddit thread.

If you decide you’d like this big Iceberg as your buddy, you’ll be treated to this bug in your profile at the moment.

Now short of Niantic having decided he’s best off freezing himself around you to keep you as his buddy forever like the top comment at the time of writing implies, I think they may have forgotten to account for just how wide this particular Pokemon is.

Is this a huge deal? Probably not. Is it an easy fix? Most likely. Does it undermine faith in Niantic a bit when a Pokemon who pretty much has a defining characteristic of being wide doesn’t get some kind of camera adjustment to make sure it doesn’t break the buddy screen and consume the player? Yeah, yeah it does.

It’s fairly certainly an oversight at least, or maybe Avalugg really does have that bad an attachment problem. We’ll have to find out when Niantic patch the game and detach him from players in the process.

In any case, that’s everything for this amusing little snippet, courtesy of /u/RustyChungus on Reddit who seemingly first discovered it.
