Pokemon Go: Paras spotlight hour, doubled catch Candy

The final spotlight hour for March 2022 in Pokemon Go will feature Paras, the mushroom Pokemon, as well as doubled capture candy.

What can we expect from the Paras Spotlight in Pokemon Go?

For those of you not familiar with spotlight hours, I’ll provide a brief summary of what to expect in a moment. If you are familiar with these events, just skip on down to the next subheader for the start time of the event.

Now, to summarise, spotlight hours are effectively the spawn-replacing portion of Community Days limited to a one-hour duration; you get a burst of the featured Pokemon for that one hour, and very little else – given that it replaces all other wild spawns, anything else you see during it is likely unintended.

These make for great opportunities if you’re looking for the featured Pokemon, Paras in this case. Not so much if you’re not a fan of it however.

With that said, these events do typically pack a bonus to redeem them somewhat. Some of the better ones feature doubled Stardust on catch or doubling the amount of candy earned per Pokemon transferred. In this case though, it’s doubled catch candy – which basically means this event is doubling down on Paras, because you’ll only get doubled candy for what you can catch, and that will exclusively be the mushroom Pokemon.

When is the Paras spotlight hour?

The spotlight hour for Paras will be starting on the 29th of March at 6:00 PM local time, and as the name implies it will run for one hour until 7:00 PM local time, at which point both Paras spawns and the bonus doubled candy effect will end.

Is there anything else to mention?

There isn’t much else to say, though do be aware that if you are in fact a fan of Paras, you can use this event with its enhanced spawn rate to try to farm for Shiny Paras, as it is available in Pokemon Go in the wild currently.
