Pokemon Go: Minun Spotlight hour, doubled Transfer Candy

Minun in the Pokemon anime

This week’s Spotlight hour in Pokemon Go will feature Minun, the Cheering Pokemon, as well as a doubled Transfer Candy bonus.

What can we expect from Minun Spotlight hour?

Just in case you’re unfamiliar with Pokemon Go’s Spotlight hours, I’ll give you a quick summary of what you’ll get.

These events are effectively one-hour bursts of what you’d expect from a Community day – or at the very least, the spawns part of one. To be specific, they’ll replace all the usual wild Pokemon spawns you’d encounter with the featured Pokemon for the duration of the event.

With that in mind, that’ll mean a lot of Minun for this event. Great if you like Minun, not so much otherwise.

Fortunately for Non-Minun fans, these events pretty much always have an added bonus thrown in to prevent them getting too boring or generally useless if you don’t need the specific featured Pokemon that week.

And unlike Plusle before it, Minun actually got a pretty nice event bonus – Doubled Transfer Candy certainly sounds boring, but it makes for an excellent time to clear out any spare Pokemon you don’t want to stock up on candy that’ll you likely need sooner or later.

When is the Pokemon Go Minun Spotlight hour?

The Minun Spotlight hour in Pokemon Go will start on January 25th at 6:00 PM local time and as you may expect, runs for one hour until it ends at 7:00 PM local time.

If you’re not familiar with local time – don’t worry about it, just turn up at the time above and you should catch the event just fine, it’s designed to allow Trainers to not need to worry about timezone conversion or anything along those lines.

Is there anything else worth mentioning?

The only other thing really worth considering with these events is whether or not they can be used as an easier way to farm for a specific Shiny Pokemon or not – and luckily for you, Trainer, Minun is enabled as a Shiny at all times right now, so you can encounter them as a Shiny version rather than the regular appearance during the Spotlight hour.
