Pokemon Go: Is the Master Ball in the game?

Of all of the Pokéballs out there, the Master Ball is probably the most recognizable ball in the franchise, aside from the original one. It’s the only ball that will never fail to catch any Pokémon, and as such, it’s extremely rare to stumble across one of them. But is there a Master Ball in Pokémon Go?

Being different from the main series games, Pokémon Go has its own quirks when it comes to Pokéballs and catching Pokémon. But it still shares many mechanics and Pokéballs with them, making many players wonder if there was any time when the Master Ball was available.

Is the Master Ball in Pokémon Go?

Officially, no. The Master Ball is currently unavailable in the game and it has never been made available through progression or through events. But this may change one day, as data suggests that the Master Ball could one day be a reality in Pokémon Go.

Dataminers confirmed that data for the Master Ball does exist inside the game, but it’s unused to this day. This leaves the player with only the regular Poké Ball, Great Ball, and Ultra Ball in order to catch some of the rarest Pokémon, which may inevitably flee sometimes.

Curiously, the Master Ball is the only ball that has been found. No signs of other specialized balls, such as the Dive Ball or the Net Ball have been found, which could mean that Niantic does plan to release the Master Ball at some moment.

Others may assume that the Master Ball will not be released, as it could potentially be game-breaking, and its data was only included in the game so it would feature all of the Gen I Pokéballs. The Premier Ball was introduced in Gen III, but it’s exclusive to Raid Battles.

Having a Master Ball given as an anniversary present or something similar would be incredible, but the data for it has been in the game for a while, so it’s up to Niantic for how, or when, to make it available for everyone, as players would certainly appreciate it.
