Pokemon Go: How to defeat Terrakion, weakness and counters

Terrakion in a Pokemon Movie

The Cavern Pokemon Terrakion is coming to Pokemon Go Raids, so you’ll want to know the counters and weakness of this legendary Pokemon.

Terrakion is a Rock/Fighting Dual-type, which unfortunately for Terrakion is a typing that comes with more counters and individual weaknesses than it does advantages.

What counters Terrakion in Pokemon Go?

If you’re familiar with the Pokemon series, you’ll know by now that certain types have either (or both) of a damage advantage or incoming damage reduction in certain matchups, known as super effective and not very effective respectively. Terrakion is an almost flawlessly balanced typing, a Rock/Fighting Dual-type that has just one more weakness than resistance.

That might not make it sound like much, but Terrakion takes increased damage from all of the following types:

  • Fairy
  • Fighting
  • Grass
  • Ground
  • Psychic
  • Steel
  • Water

With a list like that, we’ll have to check out what Terrakion can do in battle to find which is the best counter in Pokemon Go, whether it be for raids or PvP.

Terrakion makes use of a Rock-type and Psychic-type fast attack each, which already makes life difficult for Fighting-type Pokemon, as getting hit rapidly by a Psychic attack will annihilate them.

Beyond that, Terrakion also makes use of two Fighting-type Charged attacks, as well as a Ground-type and Rock-type move each. This means that Steel-types might also be best avoided, as almost all of the charged attacks Terrakion can use are super effective against them.

Grass, Water and Fairy-types have no weaknesses that Terrakion is capable of abusing in Pokemon Go, so all of those make for viable choices here.

Terrakion Pokemon Type Weakness

To summarise, your best bet against Terrakion isn’t the easiest choice to make, but if you have any particularly strong Grass, Water or Fairy-type Pokemon, all of them are viable choices here that should serve you quite well while also being well-positioned to take advantage of Terrakions weakness.

You’ll want to avoid Steel-types at least though – they do deal increased damage, but are also hugely vulnerable to almost every charged attack Terrakion can use.

Anything else to mention?

That’s about it for this one, stick to either Grass, Water or Fairy-type Pokemon to exploit the biggest weakness of Terrakion and you should be set for this battle, best of luck Trainer.
