Pokemon Go: How to defeat Sableye, counters and weakness

Sableye in the Pokemon Anime

Sableye is a Dark/Ghost-type Pokemon who will appear during the Halloween event, so we’ve gathered the counters and weakness info for you.

This type combo nets Sableye plenty of strengths and not so much in the counters department, with only one weakness to speak of.

What counters Sableye in Pokemon Go?

If you’re familiar with the Pokemon Series, you’re probably aware by now that certain type matchups interact in ways that will influence how much damage you take and can deal in battle, with attacks against a type weakness known as “super effective!” for example. Sableye is a Dark/Ghost-type Pokemon, and as mentioned above that nets it quite a few favourable matchups and only one weakness.

Specifically, Sableye resists Fighting and Poison-types and doubly resists Normal and Psychic-type Pokemon attacks. The only counter available against Sableye ends up being Fairy-type Pokemon.

Typically I’d break down the Pokemon moveset here to determine precisely what it can do to deal with its counter-types, in an attempt to figure out which is the best of the options we have. In this case however, only Fairy-types will deal increased damage.

I’ll break them down here regardless, but we don’t have any other types to compare to, so this will just be about how these interact with Fairy-types.

In Pokemon Go, Sableye has two fast attacks, one dark-type and one ghost-type. Its charged attacks are similarly split up, with the three attacks split between dark, ghost and rock-type. Fairy-types have no weakness to any of these, so it’s not particularly a concern here.

Anything else to mention?

That’s really it for the weakness and counters of Sableye in Pokemon Go. To summarise, Fairy-types are the best, and realistically only bet for this one so it should be your only choice if you have any of them to run with.

Without access to Fairy-types, everything else is pretty much equal except for Fighting, Poison, Normal and Psychic-types, who will all struggle in this matchup.
