Galarian Slowpoke will soon be doing a tour of 1* raids as part of the Ultra Unlock P3 event in Pokemon Go but do you know its weakness?

This shorthand guide is designed to help inform you of the weakness of Galarian Slowpoke to get you set and ready to beat the Pokemon when it appears in 1* raids during Ultra Unlock part 3 in Pokemon Go.

What is the biggest weakness of Galarian Slowpoke in Pokemon Go?

The biggest weakness of Galarian Slowpoke in Pokemon Go is Dark-Type Pokemon. Dark-Types negate incoming Psychic moves, which means they are immune to most of Galarian Slowpokes attacks.

Bug-Types and Ghost-Types also do well, but simply not as well as Dark-Types can.

How did we find the most reliable counter to Galarian Slowpoke?

As is typical in any Pokemon title, including Go, precisely how strong a Pokemon is and what moves it uses may vary depending on the individual, but there are a few things that remain consistent across all of any given species of Pokemon.

The easiest of these to exploit is often Type.

Galarian Slowpoke, unlike the Kanto variant of Slowpoke from the original generation of Pokemon, is a pure Psychic-Type, meaning it has all the traits of a typical Psychic-Type. This means that the weaknesses and resistances it has are even shared with the likes of Mewtwo, a fellow mono Psychic-Type.

Type interactions

Resistances
  • Fighting
  • Psychic

Both of these are resisted once because of Galarian Slowpokes mono-Psychic Typing, dealing a mere 62.5% of their usual damage.

Weaknesses
  • Bug
  • Dark
  • Ghost

Again, like resistances these weaknesses are only applied to Galarian Slowpoke one time due to its typing, so they’ll deal the typical rate of 160% damage.

This leaves us with a tie between the three types for which makes the best weakness to hit while fighting Galarian Slowpoke in Pokemon Go, so the next best step is to check what Galarian Slowpoke can do itself in battles and see which Type has the best overall matchup here.

What moves can Galarian Slowpoke use in battle?

Fast Attacks
  • Confusion (Psychic)
  • Iron Tail (Steel)
Charged Attacks
  • Psychic (Psychic)
  • Psyshock (Psychic)
  • Surf (Water)

Bug-Types have no further interactions beyond dealing super-effective damage here, so they make a staple choice, though perhaps not the best. It’s a similar story with Ghost-Types, they have no real interaction with Galarian Slowpoke beyond exploiting its type weakness in Pokemon Go.

Dark-Types however have the advantage of being immune to Psychic-Type attacks while not interacting with the Steel or Water-Type attacks Slowpoke also has access to, making them a clear favourite in this matchup.

Weakness and counters summary

The biggest weakness of Galarian Slowpoke in Pokemon Go is Dark-Type Pokemon and Attacks. While Bug and Ghost-types do make effective choices, Dark-Type Pokemon will simply perform better due to their total immunity to Psychic-Type attacks.
