Galarian Darumaka will soon be appearing in 1* raids as part of the Ultra Unlock event, but do you know the weakness of the Zen charm Pokemon?

This shorthand guide is designed to help inform you of the weakness of Galarian Darumaka to help prepare you for raid battles against it before it appears during Pokemon Go’s Ultra Unlock part 3 event.

What is the biggest weakness of Galarian Darumaka in Pokemon Go?

Steel-Types are your best bet here, with total resistance coverage on every single attack the Zen Charm Pokemon can pull off, and super-effective advantage for their own attacks. Fire-Types take a close second place, with Fighting and Rock-Types falling into a distant but respectable third place.

How did we find the most reliable counter to Galarian Darumaka?

Despite its overall simplicity, the Pokemon series has a very logic-based depth to it, in that every Type has its own set of weaknesses and strengths.

This means that in a game like Pokemon Go, where you sometimes even know what Pokemon you’ll be fighting in advance – in content such as Raids – and with Pokemon having fewer potential moves they can use, you can often make a determination as to what Type will be the best counter option in battle.

For example, if battling against an Ice-Type like Galarian Darumaka, you have four Types it is weak to that you can use, which are Fighting, Fire, Rock and Steel-Types. If Darumaka has moves that can counter some of those, but not the other Types, then we know which makes the better Counter matchups.

Galarian Darumaka Type Interactions in Pokemon Go

Resistances
  • Ice

There’s some big “Trust no-one, not even yourself” energy in resisting only your own Type, and it’s a tad funny. Galarian Darumaka will only take 62.5% damage from fellow Ice-Type users.

Weaknesses
  • Fighting
  • Fire
  • Rock
  • Steel

Meanwhile, Darumaka will struggle against all of these Types, taking an increased 160% damage from any of these Types of attack. As these all do the same damage however, we’ll have to look into what else Darumaka does in battle to see what the best choice of counter in Pokemon Go is.

What moves can Galarian Darumaka use in battle?

Fast Attacks
  • Ice Fang (Ice)
  • Tackle (Normal)
Charged Attacks
  • Ice Beam (Ice)
  • Ice Punch (Ice)

…Alright Darumaka we get it, you’re an Ice-Type. Chill.

Anyway, puns aside, Steel-Types will likely be the best bet for this matchup as they’ll resist all of Galarian Darumakas attacks while simultaenously dealing super effective damage. Fire-Types score a close second, but don’t resist Tackle.

Rock and Fighting-Types still have good matchups here, but will simply perform worse than the other two.

Weakness and counters Summary

Steel-Types take the crown for this one, with Darumaka having absolutely nothing it can do against them as all of its attacks become resisted, making Steel our best counter option in Pokemon Go. Fire takes a close second, with Rock and Fighting-Types tieing for third place.
