Pokemon Go: How to defeat Croagunk, weakness and counters
Croagunk is a Poison/Fighting type Pokemon, which is unique to its family – but do you know the counters and weakness of it?
It’s fairly fitting that Croagunk and its evolved form Toxicroak get a fairly unique typing, they certainly look like they should be unique at the very least – this Typing, similar to Sneasel however, comes at the cost of a fairly restrictive move pool in Pokemon Go.
What counters Croagunk in Pokemon Go?
If you’re familiar with the Pokemon series, you’ll know by now that certain types have either (or both) of a damage advantage or incoming damage reduction in certain matchups, known as super effective and not very effective respectively. Croagunk is, as mentioned above, the unusual typing of Poison/Fighting, which gives it a surprisingly large set of positive matchups, while also leaving it with a huge weakness in Pokemon Go.
If you’d like to counter Croagunk, you simply need to make use of Psychic-types. There are other options you can use if you don’t have any, Flying or Ground-types specifically are both good picks here – but Psychic-types will deal the most damage to Croagunk in Pokemon Go, by far.

To make matters worse for the unique little fighter frog, it only uses Poison-type and Fighting-type moves, leaving it with no good options to counter any of its type weaknesses – with all of Flying, Ground and Psychic-types being resistant to at least one of those two types each.
In short, the biggest weakness of Croagunk is Psychic, but all three types remain good options against in Pokemon Go.
What is Croagunk weak to?
The fastest way to defeat Croagunk in Pokemon Go will be using a strong Psychic-type attacker, such as Mewtwo. Ground or Flying-types will work similarly well, and also take reduced damage from around half of Croagunks attacks, but Psychic-types simply do the most damage in this matchup and thus make the best counters.
Anything else to mention?
That’s really it for the weakness and counters of Croagunk in Pokemon Go. It comes down once again to whichever type has the largest damage modified, and in this case, it goes to Psychic-types – bring out that shadow Mewtwo and you can absolutely annihilate this matchup.
With that said, Ground and Flying-types still do great here, don’t underestimate those either, Psychic simply outperforms them.
