Pokemon Go: How to take a snapshot, snapshot research tasks

Pokemon Go how to take a snapshot title

Pokemon Go occasionally has research tasks that need you to take a snapshot, but how exactly do you take a snapshot in Pokemon Go?

If research tasks and their rewards aren’t enough for you, snapshots are also used in some PokemonGoLive challenges, such as the Buddy challenge where our title image came from!

How to take a snapshot in Pokemon Go

Taking a snapshot in Pokemon Go is pretty simple once you know how, and it’ll become one of your favourite research tasks just because of how easy it is to get the rewards from them.

So, for how to take a snapshot in Pokemon Go, you have two options. You can use either the camera item in your inventory or press the small camera icon below the favourite star on any of your Pokemon. Both of these will take you to the photo mode, then all you need to do is take a picture.

Both of these options work the same way. The only real difference is that if you use the camera item, you’ll be taken to a list like this one to select what Pokemon you wish to take a picture of – while pressing the camera icon on a Pokemon will instead immediately put you in photo mode for that Pokemon.

Simply take a photo as normal in the camera mode either of these takes you to, and then you’re done. That’s all there is to it. If you need to take multiple photos – say 5 – you can just take 5 of the same Pokemon and this will work just as well as if you had taken pictures of different ones.

Don’t forget to delete the photo files afterwards if you’re only doing this for the challenge, otherwise they’ll eat up your storage space!

Is there anything else?

There isn’t a whole lot else to know about Snapshots in Pokemon Go – though if you’re not yet familiar, you can be photobombed by various Pokemon or trainers from the Pokemon series if there’s an ongoing event.

You can find a list of the all the Pokemon Go Snapshot photobombs here.
