Pokemon Go is a game where having a lot of friends can be a huge benefit to you, from gifts to raids, knowing other players can have ample benefits and bonuses outside of just the potential friendships.

But just how many friends can you have on Pokemon Go, exactly?

Let’s take a look below and find out!

Pokemon Go how many friends can you have?

The maximum number of friends in Pokémon Go is an important number to be aware of, simply because each new friend can be someone who can help you with raids and another person to send you gifts for items and EXP each day. You might also know the max number by the simpler name of the friend list cap.

Bonuses such as the items from gifts also scale up with your friendship level, making working up the ranks from good friends to great friends, ultra friends, and best friends a worthwhile endeavor.

To that end, the maximum number of friends was increased quite recently by Niantic for Pokemon Go, with the change announced on the @NianticHelp Twitter account back in April.

So with the official source quoted below, this puts the maximum number of friends you can have on Pokemon Go at 400 in total.

You’ll still be needing a QR code or trainer codes to add other people to have them help you take down gyms or increase your daily stardust earnings through gifts regardless as to that limit though.

If you’d like somewhere to find more Pokemon Go friend codes to help out with that, we’ve got you covered. Just get a code using some of our examples and drop them a friend request, and then you’re set for everything gym battles, trainer battles or even setting up to trade Pokémon.

Is there anything else?

Nope, the limit doesn’t seem to have changed or been updated since, so the maximum number of friends should be 400 in total.

With that said, if your Pokemon Go friends list is a bit light on people right now, you might consider using a service or public forum such as the Pokemon Go Friends Subreddit, available here at /r/PokemonGoFriends, and making a post featuring your friend code for fellow trainers to add you.

Doing so can bring ample benefits as mentioned previously. Gifts alone can make a huge difference to what you can do long term, as they provide a regular free source of Ultra Balls, Max Revives and Max Potions.

And that’s not to mention the added value of the free 7km eggs you might receive or any enjoyment you might get from being sent postcards from around the world. These postcards could even feature various locations and tourist attractions you might have never seen before or even knew existed.

As Gifts are earned by simply visiting any PokeStop, plenty of people have many of these Giftcards to send, so expanding your friend list can be a fun time for various reasons, even if you don’t need the items.

On top of all of those bonuses, improving your friendship level with those new friends can help you with a variety of things. Raid groups with your friends can benefit from anything from a small attack boost to a large attack boost depending on the level of friendship alone.

Trade costs can be reduced by using less Stardust, and believe me when I say any trading stardust requirement reduction is a welcome one because trading something like a mythical Pokemon is remarkably expensive. The friend system has a lot of benefits to side systems involving other players like this, so make sure to remember to do that daily gift interaction and take advantage of it.
