Pokemon Go: Gastly Spotlight hour, ft. doubled catch Stardust

Gastly in the Pokemon anime

This weeks Spotlight hour in Pokemon Go will feature Gastly, the gas Pokemon, as well as a doubled Stardust reward per capture.

Even if you don’t particularly care about Gastly in Pokemon Go, I’d recommend that you check in during the event anyway, as the entire spotlight hour will also feature doubled Stardust per capture.

What can we expect from the Gastly Spotlight hour?

For anyone who isn’t used to this particular Pokemon Go event type, Spotlight hours are basically a one-hour long event consisting of all spawns being replaced by a single Pokemon, in this case, that means Gastly. A whole lot of Gastly.

The spawn replacing effects are quite similar to what you’d expect from a Community day, but Spotlight hours do not come with all the other extras, they are very simple affairs comparatively.

This is all great if you like Gastly, not so much if you’re not really a fan of the Gas Pokemon. Fortunately, there is also typically an additional bonus. The event bonus can occasionally go some way to compensating for featured Pokemon that a trainer doesn’t want – and fortunately enough, the bonus this week is doubled Stardust, which is about as good as it gets.

If you happen to be just about the only trainer to have more than enough Stardust for your needs, then you can at least get a Gengar or two out of all the candy you’ll earn from the spotlight hour.

When is the Pokemon Go Gastly Spotlight hour?

The Gastly spotlight hour for Pokemon Go will start on October 12th at 6:00 PM local time and will run until 7:00 PM local time, for a total duration of one hour.

This is the usual length of spotlight hours as the name indicates, and exceptions to this are extremely rare if they ever occur.

Additionally, for those unfamiliar with Pokemon Go’s Local time, it means that you don’t need to worry about timezones because the game event will take place at that time in every timezone, so it’ll be a staggered out event launch across the world.

What else is there to know?

The only other thing really worth considering with spotlight hours is using them as a chance to gather Shiny versions of the featured Pokemon, and as it happens, Shiny Gastly is available in Pokemon Go, so you can use this to farm it if you’re looking for one.

Good luck on that Shiny hunting, Trainers.

That’s about everything as far as the Gastly spotlight hour is concerned, though if you’d like more guides or articles about Pokemon Go, you can find them right here on The Click, and if you’d instead like to see more by me specifically, a list of my articles is available here.
