Continuing with the theme for the Season of Light, Pokemon Go is bringing trainers to the Festival of Light 2022, a time to strengthen bonds with those around you – including your Pokemon.

Trainers will be given the opportunity to celebrate by exploring and keeping an eye out for illuminating Pokemon, as they light up the world around them in a spectacular event.

The Festival of Lights 2022 will begin Friday, October 14, 2022, at 10:00 am and will end Monday, October 17, 2022, at 8:00 PM local time. During the event, Pokemon will illuminate the sky for the entire weekend, creating a stunning display of color and wonder.

Pokemon will be spawning in a dazzling environment, ready to light up your world, with opportunities arising to catch new and old Pokemon, with some of the current favorites being available in their Shiny form too! The Festival of Lights is not an event to be missed!

Pokemon Go debuts

The Festival of Lights 2022 is undoubtedly an event to be excited about!

Morelull and Shiinotic, the illuminating Pokemon, will debut in the game. Using 50 candies, Morelull will evolve to Shiinotic, with the luminous Pokemon boasting a glowing yellow aura, on a soft pink and purple exterior.

There is no confirmation of Morelull being available as a Shiny Pokemon at present, as always watch this space for more details as they emerge!

Event Bonuses and Field Research task encounters

During the event, there will be several bonuses available to all trainers:

  • Trainers will have an increased chance of encountering a Shiny Chinchou
  • 2 x Catch XP
  • 2 x Candy XP for catching Pokemon
  • Incense activated during the event will last for 2 hours!

Galarian Ponyta, Electabuzz, Magmar, and a selection of other Pokemon will be available upon completion of event-specific Feild Research tasks.
