This weeks Spotlight hour in Pokemon Go will feature Chimchar, the Chimp Pokemon, as well as doubled catch experience.

If you don’t particularly care about Chimchar in Pokemon Go, it might be worth considering taking part here anyway, as doubled experience will gain you a fair bit of level progress if you can land some nice throws during the event.

What can we expect from Chimchar spotlight hour?

For anyone who isn’t used to this particular Pokemon Go event type, Spotlight hours are basically a one-hour long event consisting of all spawns being replaced by a single Pokemon, in this case, that means Chimchar. A whole lot of Chimchar.

The spawn replacing effects are quite similar to what you’d expect from a Community day, but Spotlight hours do not come with all the other extras, they are very simple affairs comparatively.

This is all great if you like Chimchar, not so much if you’re not really a fan of the Chimp Pokemon.

Fortunately, there is also typically an additional bonus. The event bonus can occasionally go some way to compensating for featured Pokemon that a trainer doesn’t want – and on this occasion, the doubled experience can be pretty useful, if getting good experience per capture, like from excellent throws.

When is the Pokemon Go Chimchar Spotlight hour?

The Chimchar spotlight hour for Pokemon Go will start on November 23rd at 6:00 PM local time and will run until 7:00 PM local time, for a total duration of one hour.

This is the usual length of spotlight hours as the name indicates, and exceptions to this are extremely rare if they ever occur.

Additionally, for those unfamiliar with Pokemon Go’s Local time, it means that you don’t need to worry about timezones because the game event will take place at that time in every timezone, so it’ll be a staggered out event launch across the world.

What else is there to know?

The only other thing really worth considering with spotlight hours is using them as a chance to gather Shiny versions of the featured Pokemon, and as it happens, Shiny Chimchar is available in Pokemon Go, so you can use this to farm it if you’re looking for one.

Good luck on that Shiny hunting, Trainers.
