Pokemon Go: Bulbasaur Spotlight Hour July 2021

Bulbasaur in the Pokemon Anime

This month’s Pokemon Go spotlight hours return us to the ever-popular Kanto starters, starting with Pokedex entry 001, Bulbasaur.

Even if you already have enough Bulbasaur or are simply otherwise not interested in the Pokemon, the spotlight hour will also feature doubled capture EXP, so this can be a good chance to get a Pokemon Go experience boost.

When is the Pokemon Go Bulbasaur spotlight hour?

The Bulbasaur spotlight hour in Pokemon Go will be starting on July 6th at 6:00 PM and ends an hour later at 7:00 PM as you might expect from the name of the event.

As per usual, times are local, so don’t worry about handling anything to do with timezones and simply keep an eye on your usual clock.

What can we expect from the Bulbasaur spotlight hour?

For those of you who aren’t familiar with these types of events yet and are simply showing up because you like Bulbasaur in particular, or are exploring more of the game offers, Spotlight hours are quite simple as far as events go. You’ll get precisely one hour where almost all spawns in the game will be replaced with Bulbasaur.

It’s a bit like a short-term community day, in other words. That’s great if you like Bulbasaur, not so much if you’re not a fan.

Still, the event also comes with a doubled capture experience bonus thrown in, allowing you to potentially rack up some serious experience if you can land some great or excellent hits on the Bulbasaur that’ll appear throughout the hour.

Is there anything else?

The only other major thing to note is that events like this make for an excellent chance to find the Shiny version of the event-featured Pokemon. So if you’ve been hoping for a shiny Bulbasaur, make sure to give this event a visit.

It isn’t quite like a community day in this aspect, as the shiny rate isn’t boosted. With that said, higher spawn rates of a Pokemon lets you roll the dice on finding that particular shiny more often, so this event can be useful regardless.
