Pokemon Go is reintroducing its Bug Out! Event, and with it, lets players gather new adventures like Vikavolt’s debut, the Mega Scizor raid, and a fresh batch of wild encounters.

Players will get the chance to challenge and make progress towards their bug catcher medal, and participate in new researcher tasks to wrap up their Summer with Pokemon.

Let’s take a look below at the research event and the new Pokemon available.

The Bug Out! Event returns, bringing Mega Scizor and a Pokemon GO debut

Commencing Wednesday, August 10 2022 at 10 am to Tuesday, August 16 2022 at 8 pm local time, the bugtastic challenge begins.

Trainers can complete a collection challenge featuring Bug-type Pokemon. Upon completion, trainers will receive the Bug Catcher Pose and 15,000 XP.

Pokemon GO Mega Scizor

Making its debut in Pokemon GO is Mega Scizor, appearing in Mega Raids, it has been confirmed that Shiny Scizor will be available as a raid reward.

  • Pinsir

  • Shuckle

5-star Raids

  • Genesect

Pokemon debuts

During the Bug Out! Event, three new Bug Pokemon will be entering gameplay: Vikavolt, and its evolutions Grubbin and Charjabug.

You’ll need 25 Grubbin Candy to evolve it into Charjabug, then 100 more candies while being in the radius of a Magnetic Lure Module to evolve into a Vikavolt.

Bonus’ for groups

Trainers could work together to unlock additional bonuses.

If three or more join an in-person raid battle even more of a specific bug-type Pokemon will appear for 15 minutes in a 300-meter radius around that gym. The Pokemon that will appear in more significant numbers will change each day as follows:

  • August 10: Wurmple
  • August 11: Caterpie
  • August 12: Spinarak
  • August 13: Venipede
  • August 14: Kricketot
  • August 15: Weedle
  • August 16: Ledyba

Shiny Venipede Family

Shiny Venipede is coming to Pokemon GO for the first time with its evolutions. Shiny Venepide has a rusty appearance, whereas Whirlipede has bright turquoise spots and Scolipede becomes a deep red with the same spots. How fun!
