Black Widow Cast: Who’s in the next MCU movie?

Marvel Studios’ Black Widow is due to release on July 9th after a few delays and we’re here to offer you a little refresher on the cast. Who’s in it? Which Marvel Universe characters are they playing?

Black Widow (2021) follows Black Widow (the character) after Captain America: Civil War and forces her to confront her past in a very action-packed way. There are also reports that we’re finally going to learn about the infamous “Budapest Mission” from Avengers Assemble.

It’s going to be an incredible film either way and it can be argued that the main evidence for this claim is the film’s cast. Below, we’re going to run through all the main characters and who they’re playing so you’re up to date when it releases.

Who’s in the Black Widow Cast?

As you might imagine, we’re starting off with an obvious one…

Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow – Scarlett Johansson

Johansson is back reprising her role as Black Widow, as you might imagine. This is somehow her first solo outing, despite offering countless good performances in the larger ensemble cast MCU films.

Yelena Belova / “Black Widow” – Florence Pugh

Rising star Florence Pugh, who you might have seen in Midsommar, Lady Macbeth, or Fighting with My Family, is playing Yelena Belova. Yelena is Natasha’s adoptive sister and another “Black Widow” from the KGB’s Red Room program.

Melina Vostokoff / “Iron Maiden” – Rachel Weisz

The fantastic Rachel Weisz, who you might know from Enemy at the Gates, The Mummy Returns, and The Constant Gardener, is playing Melina Vostokoff. She is codenamed Iron Maiden and is often represented as a villain in Marvel Comics’ Earth-616.

Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian – David Harbour

Stranger Things’ David Harbour is playing the KGB’s answer to Captain America: Red Guardian. He is often shown as ruthless and brutal and has since undertaken the moniker of Ronin in Marvel Comics’ Earth-616.

Rick Mason / “The Agent” – O-T Fagbenle

O-T Fagbenle joins the Black Widow cast as Rick Mason, also known as The Agent. He’s the son of The Tinkerer, in Marvel Comics’ Earth-616, and a skilled undercover specialist for S.H.I.E.L.D. He has been described as a “finder for people who aren’t so affiliated with armies”.

Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross – William Hurt

The iconic William Hurt is back once more as Thaddeus Ross in the MCU. If you’re not sure who he is, he’s Secretary of State and the guy who gave The Avengers the Sokovia Accords at the start of Captain America: Civil War.
