How to evolve Nickit in Pokémon GO is straightforward, but August Community Day gives trainers an extra reason to save their Candy and choose the right time to complete the evolution. Nickit evolves into Thievul using Candy, with no walking requirement, special item or additional task needed.
During August 2026 Community Day, evolving Nickit also gives Thievul an exclusive Charged Attack, so it may be worth waiting until the event before evolving your best catch.
How to Evolve Nickit in Pokémon GO

To evolve Nickit in Pokémon GO, you need 50 Nickit Candy.
Once you have enough Candy:
- Open your Pokémon storage.
- Select the Nickit you want to evolve.
- Tap the Evolve button.
- Confirm that you want to spend 50 Nickit Candy.
Nickit will then evolve directly into Thievul.
There are no additional evolution requirements. You do not need to make Nickit your Buddy, walk a set distance, complete raids or use an evolution item.
Nickit
Thievul
The evolution chain only contains two Pokémon, meaning Thievul is currently the final stage of the Nickit family.
Nickit Evolution Requirements
The complete requirement for evolving Nickit is:
| Pokémon | Evolves Into | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Nickit | Thievul | 50 Nickit Candy |
Evolves into Level 18Evolution requirements
Thievul
The lack of a special requirement makes Nickit considerably easier to evolve than Pokémon that need Buddy tasks, adventure distance or specific items.
However, trainers may still want to wait before spending their Candy, particularly if they plan to play during Nickit Community Day.
Should You Evolve Nickit During Community Day?
You should evolve Nickit during August 2026 Community Day if you want Thievul to learn the event-exclusive Charged Attack Icy Wind.
Nickit Community Day takes place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. local time. Trainers can evolve Nickit during the event or for up to four hours after it finishes to receive a Thievul that knows Icy Wind. This gives players until 9:00 p.m. local time to complete the evolution.
That extended evolution window means you do not have to rush through your catches while the main event is active. You can spend the three-hour Community Day period collecting Nickit, checking their stats and gathering Candy before deciding which one to evolve.
How to Get More Nickit Candy
Community Day will be one of the easiest opportunities to earn the 50 Candy needed for the Nickit evolution.
Nickit will appear more frequently in the wild throughout the event, while the active Community Day bonus awards double Candy for catching Pokémon. Trainers level 31 and above will also have twice the usual chance of receiving Candy XL from catches.
You can increase your Candy total further by using Pinap Berries before catching Nickit. A regular Pinap Berry doubles the Candy awarded from a successful catch, making it particularly useful when a Pokémon is spawning repeatedly.
Other ways to earn Nickit Candy include:
- Transferring unwanted Nickit to the Professor.
- Setting Nickit as your Buddy Pokémon.
- Trading Nickit with another trainer.
- Using Rare Candy, although this is generally better saved for harder-to-find Pokémon.
- Using a Dark-type Mega-Evolved Pokémon during Community Day to increase Candy rewards.
Because Nickit only requires 50 Candy, most active players should be able to complete several evolutions during the event.
Which Nickit Should You Evolve?
Before evolving Nickit, check its appraisal and decide what you want to use Thievul for.
A high three-star or perfect Nickit may be appealing for general collection purposes, while players interested in the GO Battle League may want to check PvP IV rankings before evolving. The strongest PvP candidate is not always the Nickit with the highest overall appraisal, as lower Attack and higher defensive stats can sometimes perform better within CP-limited leagues.
You may also want to keep separate Nickit for different reasons:
- Your best overall appraisal.
- Your strongest PvP candidate.
- A Shiny Nickit.
- A Nickit with a Community Day Special Background.
- A perfect or near-perfect specimen.
Nickit encountered during Community Day can be Shiny and may also have a Special Background, although neither is guaranteed.
The stats shown above are useful for understanding Nickit as a species, but remember that Pokémon GO uses its own combat calculations. Your individual Nickit’s appraisal and intended battle league matter more than the main-series base-stat display when choosing one to evolve in Pokémon GO.
Can Shiny Nickit Evolve Into Shiny Thievul?
Yes. Evolving a Shiny Nickit will produce a Shiny Thievul.
The evolution does not remove its Shiny status, and the process still costs 50 Nickit Candy. There is no separate evolution method for the Shiny form.

The artwork toggle above lets readers compare Nickit’s normal and Shiny appearances. Shiny Nickit uses a noticeably different colour palette, making it easier to identify than some of Pokémon GO’s subtler Shiny variants.
If you catch a Shiny Nickit during Community Day, you may want to secure enough Candy for at least one Shiny Thievul while keeping another Shiny Nickit unevolved for your collection.
Can Nickit Evolve More Than Once?
Nickit can only evolve once.
Its complete evolution line is:
Nickit → Thievul
Thievul does not currently have another evolution, Mega Evolution or Gigantamax form available in Pokémon GO.
Since the family contains only two stages, completing the Nickit evolution line requires just 50 Candy and one successful evolution.
Is Thievul Worth Evolving?
Thievul is worth evolving during Community Day for collection purposes and to obtain its exclusive Charged Attack.
Even if Thievul does not become one of the strongest Pokémon in every battle format, event-exclusive moves can alter how a Pokémon performs and may become more valuable after future balance updates. Evolving at least one strong Nickit during the event preserves that option.
Collectors will also need Thievul to complete the family in their Pokédex, while Shiny hunters will need to evolve a Shiny Nickit to register Shiny Thievul.
The safest plan is to collect as much Candy as possible, keep several promising Nickit and wait until the main Community Day hours have ended before making your final evolution choices.
How to Evolve Nickit in Pokémon GO Before the Deadline
To complete the Nickit evolution in Pokémon GO and obtain the Community Day move, evolve Nickit between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. local time on August 16, 2026.
You will need:
- One Nickit.
- 50 Nickit Candy.
- Enough free Pokémon storage for Thievul.
- A stable connection while completing the evolution.
The actual evolution only takes a few seconds, but it is sensible not to leave every evolution until the final minute. Server delays, app crashes or losing track of the deadline could leave your Thievul without Icy Wind.
