LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga: Latest news, leaks, and rumors

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has had a turbulent development cycle, with the game being delayed multiple times due to the pandemic.

But, after over a year of the game being delayed indefinitely, it now officially has a release date and is set to release very soon.

Below is everything we know about the upcoming LEGO Star Wars game…

Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga Release Date

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been delayed multiple times, with it being delayed indefinitely after missing its Spring 2021 release window.

Now, it has been officially confirmed that the game will release a whole year later on April 5th, 2022.

What Platforms Will It Be On? 

It has been confirmed that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch.

Unlike PlayStation, which will have a version for each platform, both the Xbox One and Series X|S versions will be on the same disk/download, with the console installing the correct version. This also means that there will likely be a paid upgrade to move from PS4 to PS5 at a later date.

Pre-Order Bonuses and Editions

As with many games, there are plenty of editions and pre-order bonuses to get your hands on, here is what is on offer with each version of the game.

All of the players who pre-order a digital version of the game will receive the Trooper Character Pack.

Digital Standard Edition owners will receive the Obi-Wan Kenobi playable character, it doesn’t state which iteration of the character it will be. We can also assume that physical owners will miss out on this character, although it may be purchasable as a microtransaction.

All of the Deluxe Edition owners will receive 7 Character Packs, and physical Deluxe Edition owners will receive the Luke Skywalker with Blue Milk Minifigure, this isn’t an in-game item.

Level Information

So far, we know that LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga will have at least 45 levels. Each of the nine Star Wars Episodes will be divided into 5 levels, however, there will also be explorable hub spaces throughout similar to LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens.

Across these levels and hubs, players will be able to 23 different planets with a total of 28 unique locations.

Random encounters and collectibles will both be included in these hub spaces in an effort to round out the linear level design that features heavily in LEGO Star Wars games.

Craig Derrick, the Managing Producer at Lucasfilm Games, has confirmed that all of these levels have been built from the ground up with scope and scale in mind.

All the Confirmed Characters So Far

Recently, it has been confirmed that the game will feature around 800 characters. While not all of them will be playable, it is reported that most of them will be. 

“It’s the fact that the whole cast is brought together, uniquely in this LEGO form — the complete collection, from Admiral Ackbar to Zorii Bliss — which makes the game so special.”

This information, however, conflicts with a new report that only 300 of the characters are actually playable. It’s unsure as to whether multiple appearances are being counted as separate characters.
