Trivium involved in a drive-by shooting on tour

The modern Heavy Metal icons Trivium are currently on tour as part of their Deadman and Dragons tour, with it set to conclude later this week after starting back on October 2nd. The tour also saw Between The Buried And Me, Whitechapel, and Khemmis as the supporting acts.

Being on the road brings with it plenty of unknowns, with bands and artists often staying and driving through unfamiliar cities and towns.

However, one thing an artist doesn’t expect to happen is to be involved in a drive-by shooting, and that is what happened to Trivium following their show in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Thankfully, it isn’t quite as serious as it sounds although it is still horrifying.

Following Trivium‘s show in Albuquerque, New Mexico yesterday, their tour bus was struck with multiple pellets from a BB gun at approximately 3 am local time.

Matt Heafy, the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the band, took to Twitter to reveal the events that took place after the show, giving fans a look at the damage the pellets caused to the tour bus.

“So last night I was in bed and I heard this smacking, popping sound against our bus after a show in Albuquerque [New Mexico]. Apparently, we got drove by, shot by a BB gun. It was like three in the morning and they happened to hit this [shows side of the bus], blew the whole window out. I’ve been saying we’ve outgrown that venue, we have outgrown that venue. Albuquerque it’s time to build a new venue, you’ve got to build a new venue if you want us [Trivium] back. But, nothing’s going to stop us, see you tonight Phoenix [Arizona].”

Thankfully, it seems like the shooters weren’t intending on causing serious harm or killing anyone on board the bus. However, it is still an incredibly scary situation for the band that could have easily ended differently had the shooters intended to cause harm and used a real gun. Stay safe out there everyone.
