The Great Ace Attorney Localized!

Great Ace Attorney Localization

As some may remember a month or two ago, I wrote a speculation piece about all the evidence currently pointing towards a Great Ace Attorney localization. Seems it all proved true, and Capcom announced on April 21st that The Great Ace Attorney was being localized!

As seen in the reveal trailer above, the bundle is called The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles! It will contain both The Great Ace Attorney 1 and 2 fully translated and localized for Western audiences. A bunch of added goodies like art and mini episodes will be bundled in the new release of these games. There also exists a deluxe version which will feature the most recent version of the original Ace Attorney trilogy, making it quite the appealing bundle for new fans to enter the series. These two long awaited titles will be coming to PC, Switch, and PS4 on July 27th.

Fans of the series are absolutely elated to see this announcement, myself included, as the series has struggled with spinoff titles getting localized. Fans were able to get Ace Attorney Investigations as well as the Professor Layton crossover, but were denied The Great Ace Attorney for a number of years and Investigations 2 seems to be well past its prime. While I doubt this means Investigations 2 will receive an official localization, I suppose it is a small grain of hope.

With the Great Ace Attorney localized, however, all that’s left is to see where Capcom moves forward with the Ace Attorney franchise, as its last mainline release was in 2016 with Spirit of Justice. The most we can assume if the franchise is still alive and well is that either another spinoff is in the works, or perhaps the main series is finally getting its seventh game. Even so, it’ll make fans happy to finally be able to officially play these previously Japanese exclusives!
