Summer Game Fest 2022: How to watch and what to expect

June has been a great month for gaming announcements, as right after the State of Play event by Sony we’ll also receive the Summer Game Fest 2022. The event will be hosted by Geoff Keighley, and will reveal more about games previously announced, and maybe even reveal some new upcoming titles.

While the Summer Game Fest is usually a smaller event, we must remember that there’s no E3 this year, which makes the event a lot more important as one of the main sources of trailers, announcements and, of course, a lot of hype.

How to watch the Summer Game Fest 2022

The event will go live this Thursday, June 9th, at 11 am PT. You can watch it live directly from the official Summer Game Fest site. You can also check out the announcement through The Game Awards Youtube channel or its Twitch channel, which will also be live streaming the event.

What to expect from the show?

During a Twitter Spaces interview, Keighley affirmed that the event will be more oriented towards games that were already announced instead of announcing new titles. This could mean that we could get more information on titles recently announced during the State of Play, such as Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil 4 Remake or Final Fantasy XVI.

Also, Keighley also confirmed some games that will show up during the event, such as The Callisto Protocol, Gotham Knights and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Around 30 to 40 games will be shown during the presentation.

But the show’s host also made clear that “this isn’t The Game Awards”, so even if there’s some extra relevance to the event this year, there won’t be any shocking news during the 2022 edition of the Summer Game Fest.

The Xbox Games Showcase, for example, will happen on June 12th, and that’s where some of the bigger news should be.
