Square Enix just unveiled Tactics Ogre Reborn and our inner child is gushing

Tactics Ogre Reborn Key Art

Hitting us right in the feels, Square Enix’s Youtube page just posted a remastered version of Tactics Ogre: Reborn, and we are all here for it!

The humble beginnings of the Tactics Ogre can be traced back as early as 1993 – The March of the Black Queen. However, precursors like Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (1995) were the proponents of big names like Final Fantasy for Square Enix. A PSP remake was released in 2010 for Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

Set in Valerian Isles, a fictional archipelago teeming with commercial ports and naval power, the turn-based strategy game focused on stories about war and an epic quest to end its destruction. What made the game stand out is their idea of “multiple endings”, adding a sense of replayability for players back then as the list of games available, compared to what we have now, was limited.

Square Enix has previously been giving us teasers of their upcoming line of games, with some speculating that they may be cooking a remastered version of Final Fantasy Tactics. However, with the video’s release, players may expect to be sent back to the pixel art of Tactics Ogre. The gameplay, based on the video, shows the remastered version of the rich visual art that can still be seen in new release games, even today.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn also features updated game design, fully-voiced cutscenes, improved graphics, and sound. Based on the information provided by Square Enix, it appears that they may be expanding the possibilities of multiple endings. The released video teased players with lines like “In this age of conflict, which path will you choose?” and other exclusives.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is set on November 11, 2022, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, and PC via STEAM.

The game is also set to release a physical and digital Standard Edition on PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, with a digital-only Standard Edition available on PC via STEAM. A Digital Premium Edition will soon be available on PS5, PS4, and PC via STEAM.
