Splitgate Announcement – Big things coming to 1047 Games’ portal shooter

For a game that isn’t even out fully yet, Splitgame is huge. It has amassed over half a million downloads on all platforms during the game’s Beta period and the 1# spot on the PS Store’s Trending page, the Xbox Marketplace’s Free Games list, and Steam’s Trending pages. Players are eager to jump into this new portal shooter and it’s clear to see why… However, things could be on the up following an exciting announcement from the people behind Splitgate, 1047 Games. Here’s everything we know.

What Does This All Mean?

At the moment, we don’t know for sure. It is an exciting prospect that Splitgate could cement itself as one of the bigger free-to-play FPS titles out there with the right funding and development. Warzone, Valorant, and Apex Legends all borrow things from one another (and other titles) but Splitgate seems genuinely different. It feels fresh.

With Lemnis Gate right around the corner, Splitgate could join a new wave of FPS titles that push the genre to its limits and finally start to innovate gameplay into more than just Call of Duty’s “Boots on the Ground” gameplay. The recent announcement of XDefiant, Ubisoft’s next Tom Clancy mash-up, seems to be a step in the wrong direction but it doesn’t look like it will have much support in its current form.

It might be free to play, but limiting it to Uplay is the wrong move. With Splitgate being available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Steam… You have to hope it will stand a better chance.
