The Silent Hill Transmission event is set to take place today and will be the first news we’ve heard about the series in a number of years.

Since the cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills project, dubbed “PT” by fans, Konami has been very silent (no pun intended) regarding the franchise.

The last entry in the Silent Hill franchise was released in 2012, but it now looks like it won’t be much longer until new games are released.

Silent Hill 2 Remake and other games leaked ahead of event

As gamers prepare for the Silent Hill Transmission event, news of what is to be revealed has been leaked.

Konami accidentally revealed what to expect from the event in the YouTube video’s description, and eagle-eyed fans instantly spotted this.

Based on the information revealed in the video description, it looks like the event will focus on three different projects.

The first will be a Silent Hill 2 remake. The original game was released back in 2001 on the PS2, followed by a release on the Xbox and later PC.

Silent Hill 2 is highly regarded by fans as being the best entry in the series, so this is news that will certainly tick the boxes for many gamers.

However, it does beg the question as to why Konami didn’t choose to remake Silent Hill 1 and then go through the series over time, similar to what Capcom has done with the Resident Evil franchise.

A new Silent Hill game is coming

Along with the Silent Hill 2 remake leak, it also looks like a brand new entry in the series is in development, codenamed Project Sakura.

It was revealed in 2021 that Konami was working on two Silent Hill games side-by-side, so this does line up with previous reports. It now looks like one game is a Silent Hill 2 remake, and the second is a brand-new entry in the series.

As of right now, no details surrounding the new game are known, and Konami has been very quiet when it comes to what it is working on.

Conflicting reports have claimed this game will either be a PlayStation exclusive or it will release on both PlayStation and Steam.

Expect a new Silent Hill movie trailer

Earlier this year, Christophe Gans revealed that he had created a script for a third Silent Hill movie, which was planned to be released in 2023.

One of the leaks indicates a new Silent Hill movie trailer is set to be revealed, which coincides with this previous news.

Gans was the director of the first Silent Hill movie in 2006 but was unable to direct the 2012 sequel due to other obligations.
