Rumors about Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption remasters have excited fans of the critically acclaimed Rockstar action-adventure games. Initially released in 2008 and 2010 respectively, both video games were complimented for the freedom they granted to players.

While Rockstar did not actually confirm the rumors, most fans did not seem to take these claims with a grain of salt and expected for the popular video games to soon arrive to next generation platforms.

However, a recent tweet from insider @TezFunz2 broke the bad news to anticipating fans. With a notable history of reliable Rockstar-related leaks, the insider claims that the video game publisher has already canned the plan for these remasters and that the possible reason for this cancellation is due to GTA Trilogy’s bad reception.

As per a reliable source with clear accuracy on Rockstar plans, remasters of GTA IV & RDR1 were on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind.

The poor reception of the Trilogy DE might be a reason behind that decision.

Released late last year, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is currently one of the lowest-scoring video games on Metacritic and was described by ImpulseGamer as a “disappointing remaster of some of the most influential games of all times.”

On the other hand, CGMagazine commented that the GTA trilogy is “a relic of its time. A relic that was better left unearthed.”

Rockstar Games, Inc. is an American video game publisher based in New York City. Over the years, they have produced commercially successful video games such as the GTA and RDR games.
