Rick from Rick and Morty joins MultiVersus on September 28

Rick and Morty pays a visit to the MultiVersus (1)

The free-to-play platform brawler, MultiVersus, will see the arrival of Rick Sanchez. With Morty already in the scene, this completes Rick and Morty.

The hit TV series, Rick and Morty, is taking over the MultiVersus. Rick Sanchez is expected to come out today as he joins his side-kick grandson Morty Smith, as part of the growing roster of the MultiVersus. The official Twitter account of MultiVersus just posted a teaser of the burping genius to hype up the party.

The teaser also included the moveset and class type of Rick so players can have an idea of what to expect with the new character. The addition of Rick is pure chaos just waiting to happen.

The moveset of Rick Sanchez includes the following:

  • Yeah, Fart Bomb!: Throw a fart bomb, hitting enemies upward.
  • Meeseek and Destroy: Summon a Meeseeks that runs forward, uppercuts, or readies a golf club.
  • Basrick Portal Theory: Aims and summons a max of two portals

If you check out the official website of Multiversus, the roster has been updated so players can expect the addition of Black Adam and Stripe, most likely once the movie of Black Adam is released. However, Rick is expected to come with his default skin, the grandpa with a stain-covered lab coat. Another tweet from MultiVersus teased players with Rick wearing a battle suit.

Rick and Morty expected to bring the spark back to MultiVersus

The release of the game back on July 19, 2022, garnered a generally favorable response from the gaming community. It was expected to be another derivative of the platforming brawler genre, but it was able to stand out among its peers like Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl and Brawlout. Although it was far from the success of the hit series Super Smash Bros. Brawl from Nintendo, it was able to leave a mark among its players.

According to the FAQ section of website: “MultiVersus introduces a team-based 2 vs. 2 format with a strong emphasis on online cooperative gameplay. The game also offers 1 vs. 1 matches, 4-player free-for-all, co-op vs. A.I. matches, custom online lobbies, The Lab (practice mode), tutorials, and local play matches supporting up to four competitors. New modes will be continually added to MultiVersus as part of the game’s seasonal content updates.”

It is not a secret that MultiVersus is slowly losing that initially strong fanbase. The clamor of players was mainly based on the fact that people are starting to get tired of the same base game. There have since been additions of new characters, like Rick and Morty. However, the big names they continue to add to their roster appear to be just band-aid solutions to their growing problem.

To this day, there has not been any actual additions in terms of the gameplay modes in Multiversus. There has been a string of new characters, but no content variety. The biggest enemy of Warner Bros. Games now is themselves. The next coming months will be crucial for the developers and the survival of the game online. Hopefully, the addition of Rick and Morty can do that.

MultiVersus is available for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles and PC.
