How to play the Resident Evil Village third-person demo on Steam

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition Demo Release Date

Capcom recently hosted its Resident Evil Showcase event, which gave players a new look at Resident Evil 4 Remake and some last-minute information surrounding the release of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and the Winter’s Expansion DLC.

In addition, we also found out more about the upcoming RE: Verse for anyone that is still interested in the game.

One of the more exciting pieces of news was that a demo showcasing the third-person mode in Resident Evil Village had been released. But many Steam players have found they are unable to download it, here is everything you need to know and do to download the new demo and check out the third-person mode before the Winter’s Expansion launches on October 28th.

The Resident Evil Village Gold Edition demo launched shortly after the conclusion of the Resident Evil Showcase event across all platforms.

This demo gives players a first look at playing the game in the third person ahead of its official release on October 28th.

However, most gamers have been unable to download the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition demo, and there is a really strange reason for that…it isn’t available to existing owners of the game.

Of course, demos are supposed to help drive new players to purchase the game. However, this new demo gives players a look at a new feature many are excited about, and it was never stated in the event that it was for new players only.

Nothing seems to happen when you go on the Steam page for Resident Evil Village and click the ‘Download’ button on the demo.

Thankfully, a workaround has been discovered that will allow anyone to download the demo on Steam, regardless of whether you own Resident Evil Village or not.

Follow the steps below to download the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition demo.

  • Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the ‘Run’ command, you can also just search for ‘Run.’
  • Paste steam://open/console into the text box that appears after completing step one, and then click ‘OK’ on the screen or press Enter on your keyboard.
  • Once the Steam console screen opens, paste app_install 2062120 into the text box at the bottom of the screen and press Enter on your keyboard.

Once you press the Enter key, the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition demo will immediately begin downloading at a size of 6.4GB.

You will have 60 minutes to play the demo, with it being able to be repeated as many times as you’d like until the timer runs out, you also don’t need to use the full 60 minutes in one sitting.

Players will remember this demo as being the Castle demo that was released before the launch of Resident Evil Village in May 2021, except this time, you can choose between first and third person.

From playing it, I do think third-person will become the preferred style for many gamers, but it is amusing to see Ethan Winters hold his weapons in the same way as he would in first-person, from a third-person perspective, it looks very unnatural.
