Overwatch 2 teases its players as they unveil their new tank hero. Ramattra is the leader of the Null Sector and a proponent for the rights of the Omnics.

Blizzard dropped hints on the backstory of their upcoming tank. According to the post from Blizzard, Ramattra was originally a war machine. Circumstances changed the perspective of Ramattra, leaving behind the guns and ammunition and picking up a shield to protect his people by promoting peace and tranquility. Like Zenyatta, he is also a Shambli monk, with ideals emphasizing on sensibility over violence to achieve his goals for his people.

However, his efforts to promote harmony have been toppled by endless discord among those in power. With a disheartened spirit, he pushes his limits by being a pragmatic hero, doing anything to ensure the welfare of his fellow Omnics.

Details of Ramattra in Overwatch 2

“Harmony was replaced by dissonance, and Ramattra began to approach his convictions from a more pragmatic angle—justifying any means necessary to defend his fellow omnics. As the leader of Null Sector, Ramattra boasts incredible support from his people, and he is primed to impose his philosophies on our world. “

Once released, he will be the fourth new character introduced in Overwatch 2. The three other heroes recently unveiled with the launch of the game are Sojourn, Kiriko, and Junker Queen. According to Blizzard, they prefer to alternate their updates with new maps and new additions to their hero pool

Gameplay mechanics of Ramattra

“He does have two forms. He has an Omnic form and his Nemesis form. Part of the skill we’re testing is when to switch between those forms. Because the Omnic form, you’re playing this poke game, you’re protecting your team, a little bit at range. And then the Nemesis form you’re rushing down the enemies, you’re charging in there and you have these punches.”

Alec Dawson, Lead Hero Designer on Overwatch 2

Blizzard is yet to release more information about the gameplay mechanics of Ramattra. According to the Lead Hero Design on Overwatch 2, Alec Dawson, he will have two forms when fighting. The first form is the Omnic form. In this form, he wields a staff that he uses to perform “stabbing” actions against his enemies. The second form is his Nemesis form. In this form, he gets noticeably bigger and has a focus on aggressiveness when it comes to large-scale battles.

In other words, the Omnic form appears to be his defensive stance, while the Nemesis form is his attack stance when used as a hero. This is the first time that Overwatch has released this kind of hero, and it appears that Overwatch 2 is banking on this variation to keep the balance of the characters in the game.

Synergy and counters for Ramattra

According to Alec Dawson, the best synergy with him are heroes that can enhance his abilities when it comes to getting to places on the map that he needs to check. The Lead Hero Designer advises that the use of Lucio as his speed boost to him can greatly increase the odds of winning for the players.

In contrast, with him in his Nemesis form, he becomes a bigger target with more chances of landing hits. As such, he becomes prone to flanking, critical hits, and long-range shots. Alec recommends Ana’s sleep dart and other characters that can use the same advantage when it comes to countering Ramattra.

“Ramattra will join the tank lineup at the beginning of Season Two starting December 6. Our team is counting the days down to when we can share more about our newest hero, so keep an out for more information in the weeks leading up to Season Two. “
