Nintendo Switch sales hits 111 million since its release

In a recent report from the company, as of June 2022, Nintendo has confirmed that they have sold 111.08 million Switch units worldwide.

The information was released from the company’s quarterly report (April to June 2022). Nintendo also confirmed the sales of 3.43 million consoles for the quarter.

Here is a breakdown of the sales, according to Nintendo:

  • Standard Switch sales last quarter: 1.32 million
  • Switch OLED sales last quarter: 1.52 million
  • Switch Lite sales last quarter: 0.59 million

Semiconductor shortage hits Nintendo

However, it’s not all good news for Nintendo. The handheld gaming console giant confirmed that there have been some concerns about a shortage of semiconductors affecting their sales. This hit them most in the last quarter with a drop of 22% in the latest quarter.

The company sees promise after summer. Citing that the demand should stabilize by the start of autumn and may even see some improvement in their sales. The company also confirmed that there is no reason for their customers to be concerned with the situation.

They have also provided information about the sales of their games:

  1. Nintendo Switch Sports sales last quarter: 4.84 million
  2. Mario Strikers: Battle League sales last quarter: 1.91 million
  3. Kirby and the Forgotten Land sales last quarter: 1.88 million

The release of the information can be used to compare the Nintendo Switch to some of the company’s classics. The most recent hardware update for Switch was in their OLED console, with no reports of any new products hitting the shelves soon.

Nintendo also produces well-known gaming consoles like Game Boy Advance, DS, and Wii. Previous reports have confirmed that the Nintendo DS has dominated the handheld gaming console wars for some years.
