Over recent years we have seen many rumours regarding the “Nintendo Switch Pro”, but this latest one looks to be the most credible yet.

The upgraded console could be released before the end of 2021, with production starting in the summer.

Nintendo Switch Pro Is Happening?

It was reported last year by Bloomberg that a new Nintendo Switch would be released in 2021. Now a new report gives some more details that sound very credible.

According to the report, it will feature an OLED screen that will be made by Samsung. This screen will be larger than the current Switch at 7 inches, slightly larger than the 6.2 inch regular Switch and 5.5 inch Switch Lite.

It is being reported that it will feature 720p resolution, much lower than the earlier reported 4K.

The current Nintendo Switch console can run up to 720p in handheld mode, and 1080p in docked, but we have seen resolutions as low as just 400p, with some games such as The Witcher 3 running at just 540p.

Even a consistent 720p handheld and 1080p docked across all games would be a noticeable difference. But with the next-gen consoles targeting 1440p and 4K,the new “Nintendo Switch Pro” will still seem incredibly outdated compared to the next-gen systems.

It is possible that the new Switch could output closer to 4K in docked, but nothing has been reported yet.

Bloomberg has stated that production will begin in June, with assembly starting in July. This should mean the new consoles will be available for the holidays, likely a November 2021 release, although nothing is confirmed so far.
