New Nintendo Switch Pro leaks highlight OLED screen feature

We still don’t even know if the “Nintendo Switch Pro” is real or not but another set of leaks suggest that the Nintendo Switch Pro is very-much real and it’s going to use an OLED display. Here’s what we know.

Nintendo Switch Pro Leaks

Universal Display Corp held their Q1 2021 Investors Call earlier, according to SpawnWaveMedia, and they very clearly mention the words “Switch Pro”, “Nintendo” and “OLED screen”.

“And in the gaming market, there our reports are, for the first time, Nintendo has selected an OLED screen for the new Switch Pro due to OLED benefits of higher contrast of faster response times. The adoption of OLEDs continues to expand, and is fuelling the multiyear OLED capex growth cycle in which we are in.”

Yeah, okay… this doesn’t really read as well as it could do but it makes a little bit of sense right?

Basically, it seems like Nintendo has opted to use an OLED screen for their upcoming “Switch Pro” console due to it’s higher contrast and faster response times. That makes sense.

There were rumours a couple of months ago that it would be a Samsung screen and it seems like this might still be the case given the fact that Samsung are one of the few companies that licenses OLED screens to Universal Display Corp.

In other Nintendo Switch Pro news, it sounds like the console will have its own set of exclusives that will aim to make full use of the updated hardware and graphical output. Other than that, there’s a shakey rumour that it could be coming before 2022.
