Since its rough release on December 10 of last year, Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red lived through a lot. From having to answer the whole gaming community and the criticism of not only fans and critics, but from its own employees about the current state of its newest and long-awaited AAA project, to a criminal cyberattack, in which many of the companies source codes are claimed to have been auctioned.
But amidst this chaos, a fan mod can be the answer for those that are looking to have a smoother experience, or even a playable one, on PCs. Called ”Heavily Customized Optimization”, the mod created by user Masahiro, looks to improve the overall performance of the game by lowering the game’s rendering distance and improving its FPS.

Check its official description below, and a graphic illustrating its potential, both provided by Nexus Mods:
”This is a modified version of General Optimization that greatly lowers rendering distance, how much is being rendered to the game to substantially lower the load on older CPUs’ along with other tweaks to give you the best fps.
From (1080p) 21.156 FPS avg (16 fps Min, 36 fps Max) to 50.07 FPS avg (38 fps Min, 70 fps Max) on Ultra, 1600 x 900”
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, via backward compatibility), and PCs. CD Projekt Red is currently releasing frequent updates to the title in their pursuit to optimize it for all users.
CD Projekt Red describes the game as:
”Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.”
