Moving Out 2 announced for 2023

Moving Out 2 Keyart

Moving Out 2 has been announced for 2023 by Team17 from SMG Studio and DevM Games. The sequel to the wacky moving couch co-op game, Moving Out. The sequel to the award-winning game released in 2020 will have expanded features such as online co-op and cross-play-enabled gameplay. Much like the original, it was also announced that various locations, characters, and wackiness would be grander than the last entry in the already entirely bonkers game.

In all honesty, Moving Out can’t be compared to simulators or many other games, but the art style and general mayhem were highly reminiscent of Overcooked!

Moving Out 2 has been announced at Gamescom during the convention’s Opening Night Live event and will be coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime in 2023.

Team17, DevM Games, and SMG Studios stated in their announcement that the key features of the upcoming Moving Out sequel, Moving Out 2, would feature co-op continued, locations, physics, crazy characters, and Assist Mode, all of which we’ll detail below.

Trailer first, moving later

On Tuesday, at Gamescom, Team17 announced that Moving Out 2 from DevM Games and SMG Studios would cross inter-dimensional lines by going on the internet and finding new jobs, compared to the first game. As well as zany new characters, taken on as immediate F.A.R.T.s to move, throw, and break everything in the way of completing the job. The newest entry to the Moving Out series will have players going to exotic and strange locations to move whatever is placed in front of the player to get the job done, as noted in the trailer. Otherwise, the general concept seems to be nothing more than expanded from Moving Out to no complaints from previous players of the game.

Features for moving, but no features moved from Moving Out

Moving Out 2 will have a slew of new content to separate itself from the original Moving Out and will only be more of a wild ride for players looking to play alone or with others online or on their couch. We’ve detailed the new features highlighted in the announcement below.

Co-op Continued

Co-op Continued will expand upon the original Moving Out‘s story structure, allowing the first player to either play solo and the computer takes over for player 2 or play with a friend. The expanded feature for Moving Out 2 will offer players “local co-op action or a cross-play online multiplayer session.”

Locations

Moving Out 2 will have over 50 new levels, offering exciting and hazardous challenges for the F.A.R.T.s to pit their moving prowess against.

Gravity

Expect ALL of the gravity. Gravity has always been a concept in the comedic moving simulator Moving Out. Still, the announcement specifically stated, “use it to get items to where they need to go faster… but maybe not in one piece,” it could either be a joke, or players can now literally deliver things broken.

Even more wild characters

Moving Out 2, much like the original, will include a wacky cast of characters, with entirely new characters that will both enchant and horrify.

Assist Mode

Although the trailer didn’t detail Assist Mode, it’s likely that without a release date, we’ll get more updates or at least a second trailer that’ll detail everything a bit more.
