Overall, E3 2021 has been fairly lacking, with very few amazing reveals like we are used to seeing at the event. But, Nintendo may have saved the day with their event, including the announcement of Metroid 5, or Metroid Dread as it will be officially named.

Metroid Dread Announced During Nintendo Direct At E3 2021

During Nintendo’s E3 Direct presentation, Nintendo announced that Metroid Prime 4 is still in development, but they didn’t have any new news or footage to share with us.

Instead, we got the official reveal of Metroid 5, or Metroid Dread as it will be known as.

The game will see the series go back to the classic 2D style, very similar to the classic Metroid games from yesteryear, but with a modern twist.

Metroid Dread will be the successor to Metroid Fusion, marking the first time the series has come to Nintendo Switch.

The game will see the return of Samus, with possibly the best looking suit we’ve seen in any Metroid game to date.

Metroid Dread Release Date

It was announced that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch on October 8th, 2021, which should definitely keep players occupied until the eventual release of Metroid Prime 4, which still seems quite far away from being finished.
