In a recent tweet from the official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account, Portkey Games confirmed that they have decided to move the game’s release date to February 2023.

Before that, the game was supposed to be released initially back in 2021. Back then, the developers cited the pandemic as one of the leading factors for their decision to move the schedule.

The release date has been pushed to a couple of weeks as the previous unveiling date was supposed to be during the holiday season of 2022. This most recent delay has affected PlayStation, Xbox, and PC game versions. However, the tweet added that the release date for the Nintendo Switch version “will be revealed soon.”

As the tweet mentioned, “The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience.” However, leaks about the game started way back in 2018. With this, players are starting to worry about the possibility of the game being outdated compared to the games coming out early next year.

There is a good chance that Portkey Games is playing it safe. With previous games like No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 that started with overwhelming hype but ultimately fell flat (not to mention the backlash), most developers are now aware of how detrimental a premature launch is for their games.
