Heihachi returns to Tekken 8 in latest EVO trailer along with new Nike and Chipotle collaborations
During the EVO 2024 Tekken 8 Finals tournament, the Tekken series producer and director, Katsuhiro Harada announced that the third character that will be coming to the game as part of the Year 1 Pass, is none other than Heihachi Mishima. Heihachi has been a key character throughout the Tekken series, being the main antagonist of the series, feuding with his son and grandson Kazuya and Jin. He is also the head of Mishima Zaibatsu and the host of the King of Iron Fist Tournaments.
However, Heihachi was presumably killed by his son Kazuya before being thrown into a river of magma, symbolic of the endings of both Heihachi and Kazuya in the first two games. In the first game, Kazuya threw his father’s lifeless body off a cliff in the canon ending. Then, in Tekken 2, Heihachi dropped his son into a volcano, which led to Kazuya being absent from the series for some time.
With Heihachi seemingly dead, he was notably missing from the Tekken 8 roster, marking the first time in the series that he wasn’t on the roster. Heihachi is one of only seven characters to have been playable in every entry in the series, with the others being Nina, Paul, Yoshimitsu, King, Kuma, and Law. Although King and Kuma are known as 1 and 2 depending on the game as multiple characters have used the name, Forest Law was playable in Tekken 3 before being replaced by Marshall Law again.
During EVO 2024, a trailer was shown before the Tekken 8 Finals that announced the next character to come to the game, with it being revealed as Heihachi. This news comes just one day before the early access release of Lidia, the second DLC character as part of the Year 1 Pass. She joins Eddy who was released in April 2024.
It has been announced that Heihachi will be coming to Tekken 8 in Autumn 2024. With Eddy being released in April, followed by Lidia in July, it is likely that we will see Heihachi come to the game in October, followed by the final character in January to coincide with the anniversary of the game’s release.

In addition to the reveal of Heihachi, two new collaborations were also revealed to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Tekken series. The first is a partnership with Nike, which will be releasing a pair of Nike Air Foamposite One in unique color schemes to represent Jin and Kazuya. These are set to be released in September and will cost $250. Both sets will also be available in Tekken 8 to put on your favorite character.
The second collaboration is with Chipotle, with players being able to use the promo code EWGF623 when placing an order to earn 500 Tekken Coins, unfortunately is only available to PS5 and Xbox Series X users. Players will also be able to head to the Fight Lounge and take on a special King AI character to unlock a Chipotle Raglan Shirt to use on any character, Chipotle Medallion Buddy, Chipotle Pepper Pow!
