Haley Bennett cast in new Borderlands movie

According to a recent report from IGN, Haley Bennett has been cast in the upcoming Borderlands movie, and will be playing a completely new role.

This means the character she will be playing will have not previously shown up in the games, but instead will be a new character created for the upcoming film. The character currently is unnamed, but her character will be “key to the past of Cate Blanchett’s character, Lilith.”

Lilith is a siren in the Borderlands games, and is playable in the first Borderlands and an NPC in the others. It is not sure how exactly Haley Bennett’s character will be connected to Lilith’s past, but it will be interesting to see what this connection will reveal about the character.

The Borderlands film boasts an incredible cast so far, with Kevin Hart as Roland, Jack Black as Claptrap, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, Florian Munteanu as Krieg, and of course, Cate Blanchett as Lilith.

Along with this, according to the IMDb page for the film, the writers include Aaron Berg and Craig Mazin, and the film is being directed by Eli Roth, known for Inglourious Basterds and Cabin Fever, among many others.

The film was announced back in February last year, after having been originally announced by Lionsgate in 2015 that a feature film would be happening, but was pushed to the side for a while.

The Borderlands film will be set on the “abandoned fictional planet of Pandora where people search for a mysterious relic.

It will be exciting to see a brand new character in the Borderlands franchise played by Haley Bennett, especially since it will give us more of a background on Lilith. We are certainly excited to see what the Borderlands film holds, and so far the casting has been impressive (especially Jack Black being casted as Claptrap).
