Green Day The Coverups takes Instagram by storm with a 2022 New Year Special Set

Who doesn’t love Green Day? From American Idiot to 21 Guns, the band is known worldwide for their antics but more importantly, the music. But how many people are aware of their alter ego, The Coverups?

2022 has been a busy year for the global sensation, with the delayed Hella Mega Tour taking place across the UK and Europe earlier this year following delays as a result of the Covid pandemic, to recording a studio album, and more recently in October, the band played tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis a week after his death, performing Great Balls of Fire a part of their gig at the famous Los Angeles Moroccan Lounge.

And with much more lined up and yet another amazing year ahead, The Coverups, comprising of members of Green Day Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, and musician Jason White, saw out 2022 at the legendary Viper Room, located in West Hollywood for all the world to see.

Performing as their alter ego, they streamed live to Instagram on New Year’s Eve, performing a set of covers from David Bowie to the Misfits, the Ramones and even Nirvana!

Streaming live to the 4 million Green Day Instagram followers, the band posted:

“WTF WHAT a year. Seeing you all at festivals, in between working recording our record in London & LA, doing a Hella Mega European tour playing the US East Coast, Chicago, and Florida, San Francisco, and shows in Brazil and Argentina. Playing Singapore to Austin Texas to Los Angeles charity show with Billy Idol, Jon Fogerty, and The Who.”
