Fans were ecstatic when Bethesda confirmed The Elder Scrolls 6 was in development at E3 2018. However, no release date, or even release window, was given and we likely won’t be getting one any time soon.

Industry insider Tyler McVicker recently claimed that he doesn’t expect The Elder Scrolls 6 to release until at at least 2026, as well as Fallout 5 may not release until the 2030s.

Assuming the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S lifecycles are similar in length to the PS4 and Xbox One, which there is no reason to assume they won’t be, this would put the next TES game at the back end of their lifecycles.

With the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S releasing back in November 2020 we can expect to see the PS6 and Xbox whatever it will be called to be released around 2027. This would also mean that Fallout 5 will skip an entire console generation if Tyler is correct.

Skyrim released back in 2011.

But there is one bit of good news, he did claim that Fallout New Vegas 2 is in development, meaning there potentially will be a Fallout game released during this decade.

As with any rumour/leak we need to take it with a grain of salt until it is confirmed by Bethesda themselves, but Tyler has a history of being reliable so there is some weight to his claims.

Right now Bethesda are focused on Starfield, which still isn’t intended to launch until 2022 or 2023, along with the recent announcement of a new Indiana Jones game, the first since 2009, Bethesda are set to be very busy over this next decade.

I guess for now we can speedrun Skyrim on our Samsung fridge or whatever the latest device is that its been ported to.
