Following the release of four entries in the series in the late-2000s, the Destroy All Humans franchise lay dormant for over a decade until a remake of the first game was released. Now, fans of the series are to set to receive another remake, this time a remake of the 2006 game Destroy All Humans 2.

Back in 2005, this naughty alien first landed on Playstation 2 and Xbox and has been in hibernation for some time. The game was set in an open-world 50s and had a fairly positive amongst its audience. It was satirical, funny, and just downright silly.

The game’s publisher, THQ Nordic, and developer Black Forest Games promise better visuals as the remake is being created from the ground up in Unreal Engine 4. The gameplay experience will also be on a different level. They have provided Crypto with not just a flying saucer and a bangin’ jetpack but more in-game powers like telepathy and hypnosis.

Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed could introduce the series to new players

In retrospect, the game never made it big back in 2005. The same scenario happened back in 2020 when the same game developers released a remake. If you were one of the game’s owners before, you know that it banks on its sense of wackiness and outlandish (literally) sense of adventure as you wreak havoc and, well, destroy all humans along your path.

This idea of a quirky and zany perspective may have also caused it not to make it catch the attention of mainstream gamers. There were missed opportunities to make a transition from its nonsensical adventure to more in-depth character progression and player immersion. It was superficial fun, never really making a solid mark on its target audience.

There were creative moments on the technical side of both the original and the remake. Still, the lack of foundation and progression of the character and the actual relevance of each quest to the game made it forgettable. 2005 started strong, with insane competitions like Batman Begins, Psychonauts, and God of War; there was little room for more open-world games that really did not push themselves for the players.

Banking on nostalgia and just pure fun, the game can take you to a more relaxing and chill environment as you explode your way through it. The game will offer split-screen co-op action for their full campaigns this time. This also means that players get a chance to customize their characters, from helmets, suits, and guns.

Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed is set to be released on August 30, 2022. It will be available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
