Cyberpunk 2077 PS5: Release window pushed back by CDPR

Cyberpunk 2077 PS5

We all know Cyberpunk 2077 has had a rough life so far, but it looked like things were on the up. The latest update was decent enough and the performance on all platforms is a good degree better than it was when it launched. Clearly, though, this isn’t enough for CDRP and the PS5 release of Cyberpunk 2077 has been pushed back another quarter. We’re surprised, but we also knew this sort of thing was coming… Here’s what we know.

CDPR announce delay to Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5

Earlier today, CD Projekt Red shared the following tweet with the world – it announces a delay to both Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 and the native next-gen release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The native next-gen release of Cyberpunk 2077 will now take place at some time in the first quarter of 2022. This isn’t any more specific than the first announcement, just later.

Interestingly enough, the following legal statement was also spotted online at the same time. “Current Report no. 39/2021″ says the same thing as the Tweet, but just more officially.

” CD PROJEKT S.A. (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) wishes to provide an update regarding its publication schedule for 2021 as concerns the release of dedicated versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for next-gen consoles (Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5). The Management Board of the Company hereby announces that, based on recommendations supplied by persons supervising development, it has decided to allocate additional time to both projects. The Company currently intends to release the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 in the first quarter of 2022, and the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the second quarter of 2022.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that Keanu Reeves couldn’t even save – we hope the native next-gen release will be something more akin to what we expected when it launched. But… We’re doubtful. The delay is probably the right move, as annoying as it can be.
