Cyberpunk 2077 has gained 222% players over the past 30 days

Cyberpunk 2077

The revival of Cyberpunk 2077 was ushered by the update, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. From being the 10th last week, the game is now in sixth place.

After the travesty of its release back in December of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 is slowly gaining back the trust of its followers as the peak players of the game continue to rise. Last week, the game entered the top 10 of Steam Steam Charts. This week, the game has climbed to sixth place, taking over Team Fortress 2, Destiny 2, Rust, and Grand Theft Auto V.

It was in the middle of this year when the game started to hit it off. More videos were being posted on Youtube and fewer bugs and glitches were reported by players.

Cyberpunk 2077 overthrows four top games on Steam Charts

The concurrent players of the game have reached 83,155 with peak players going as high as 136,724 for the past 30 days. Although this is still a far cry from the number of peak players they had back in December of 2020 (830,387), this is certainly a step in the right direction for Cyberpunk 2077.

The past weekend is, by far, the biggest number of concurrent players the game has seen for a while. There has been a steady increase in players since the release of both the anime and the patch 1.6 (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) update of the game. According to the game developers, most players are returning Cyberpunk 2077 game owners who probably lost faith in the game after the previous blunders it went through since it was released.

According to the game’s developer, CD Projekt, “Each day of this week Night City has been visited by 1 million players, both new and returning.” The increase can also be associated with the recent sale that was done for the game this week.

Aside from an increase in the number of players, both new and returning to Cyberpunk 2077, the reception of the game has generally been in the favor of the developers. Fans have been posting screenshots of the game with crisp visuals in a realistic and post-apocalyptic atmosphere.

The game has found an intricate link between the patch update and the hit anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. It was well crafted so players can enjoy both the anime and game, whichever way they prefer to start first- from simple details like the jacket and a gun of the show’s protagonist David Martinez in the anime to the Edgerunners-themed Easter eggs found in both the game and the anime.

According to a Twitter user named @BenjiSales, Cyberpunk 2077 is “Hitting #1 Best Selling Game on Steam Last Week” and is “Reaching highest Peak Concurrent Players since early January 2021”. As the game continues to pick up the pieces after the dreadful release, the game developers are teasing their players with something big in 2023.

The official Twitter account of Cyberpunk 2077 has been teasing its fans about the release of the newest patch update they have on 2023 – Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. The video showed V swearing her oath to “faithfully serve the New United States of America.” At the end of the trailer, players will hear a rather familiar voice when the game started, Johnny Silverhand – played by Keanu Reeves can be heard saying “Bad idea.” at the end of the video. This is certainly great news, especially for those who were let down when the game was released.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia.
