It’s not every day you get to see somebody escape prison just to be caught after going into town to buy a video game, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War of all things.

By god does it make my morning to see a prison-escapee get arrested after making such a poorly thought out move.

It begs the question: is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War worth losing two decades of your life? It’s a fun game, sure, but I might have to sleep on it before I can take a crack at answering that one.

36-year-old Clint Butler was originally serving a 17-year sentence at Spring Hill prison in Buckinghamshire of South East England for weapons and robbery charges.

Butler was found in Birmingham, about two hours away from Buckinghamshire, on his way to buy the most recent addition in the Call of Duty franchise.

He, along with a friend, was arrested after avoiding local police, and giving them a fake name when questioned in the city center. He was taken down by the officers and security guards who were able to lend a hand after he tried to attack the officers.

When asked why they were out during lockdown, Butler’s friend told the police “I’ve come to get the new Call of Duty because I can’t sit around in lockdown.”

Why the friend didn’t go alone, or why they couldn’t have bought a digital copy is beyond me, but I’m happy that the fugitive was caught nonetheless.

If you’re ever out and you suspect that you might have spotted an escapee, never approach them yourself. Call the authorities and let them take care of it.

It’s never a good idea to put yourself in possible harm’s way instead of getting the police. Thankfully nobody was hurt in this situation, but when somebody has a large portion of their life on the line, you don’t know what they might be willing to do. Be safe and don’t talk to strangers.
